P3H love a STEM challenge!
In class we enjoyed listening to the famous story, ‘Can’t You Sleep Little Bear?’ In this story Baby Bear struggled to get to sleep because his cave was so dark! Daddy Bear had to help him with his fear of the dark by creating lamps for his bedroom.
To our surprise, Mrs Herron had a small toy cave with Baby Bear inside…..and guess what? It was really dark! She set us an exciting STEM challenge. We had to use different electric circuit resources to create a special light for Baby Bear’s room! We got our thinking caps on and set about the task. We worked together testing ideas, learnt a lot about circuits, electricity and conductors, but most importantly, we all lit Baby Bear’s cave.
As an extra challenge Mrs Herron had a special ‘Energy Cosmic Ball.’ As a group we formed our very own human circuit by joining hands, using the energy ball to complete the circuit. We were amazed when we saw it light up and buzz! This certainly ignited our curiosity about electricity and conductivity.
