PDMU in Primary 2 – Celebrating “Wonderful Me”

This term, Primary 2 have been engaging with the Living Learning Together resource as part of our Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (PDMU) programme. Our theme is “Wonderful Me”, and the children have been exploring what makes each of us unique and special.

Exploring Identity Through Names

During circle time, the children discussed the many names we are known by—such as son, daughter, mum, granny—and had fun guessing who might use each name. We also explored the topic of nicknames and pet names, learning why it’s important to use names that others feel comfortable with and enjoy being called. To celebrate their individuality, the children decorated their own name cards using shiny, colourful collage materials. This creative activity helped reinforce the idea that our names are a meaningful part of our identity.

The Face in the Mirror

As part of our theme, the children also took part in a self-portrait activity titled “The Face in the Mirror.” Using charcoal, they created expressive drawings of themselves, which are now proudly displayed around the classroom. These portraits not only showcase their artistic talents but also help them appreciate their own uniqueness and the diversity within our school community.

At Dundela, we love to display photographs of our children engaged in learning and creativity. These displays help foster a sense of belonging and celebrate the wonderful differences that make each child special.
