This Term in the Arts in P2CB

 

This term in P2CB has been a creative adventure. In art, we explored abstract painting inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky. We looked closely at how Kandinsky used shape, line and colour to create expressive and imaginative art.

 

After studying examples, the children made their own interpretations. They used toy cars dipped in paint to roll, swirl and print shapes across paper, turning play into expressive abstract art. It was wonderful to see how each painting looked different depending on the colours, shapes and lines they chose.

 

In music this term, we created musical stories. We explored a range of percussion instruments and experimented with making sounds loud, soft, fast and slow. We spent time exploring tempo and volume in a playful way. We then linked this learning to literacy. Our class story is Lost in the Toy Museum and the children composed a musical story to match the narrative. Moments of mystery, excitement and stillness were expressed through carefully chosen instruments and sounds.

 

This approach, combining art, music and storytelling, encourages creativity, imagination and gives children a meaningful way to express themselves. We are incredibly proud of P2CB’s beautiful work this term.
