Pupil Voice
Empowering Every Learner
At Dundela, our vision is to nurture, challenge, and inspire all learners to be the best they can be within a caring, child-centred, inclusive, and connected school community. We believe every child, no matter how young, should play an active role in their learning journey.
We do this by gathering pupil ideas through observations, circle time, KWL charts, informal chats and simple questionnaires. These insights help shape lessons around children’s interests. Pupils also help choose resources and set personal targets with the support of an adult, using visuals and simple language. They reflect daily on their learning, building independence and confidence.
Beyond the classroom, children contribute through our School Council and Eco Committee, helping to make decisions that impact the school and environment. Staff receive ongoing training in active learning strategies to ensure pupil voice is embedded in planning, teaching, and reflection developing confident, engaged learners.
At Dundela, we want every child to belong, believe, and achieve with pupil voice at the heart of that journey.
