Nurturing the Educators of Tomorrow
1st May 2026
At Dundela Primary School, we take immense pride in sparking the potential of the next generation of educators. Hosting teacher trainees is a privilege we value deeply; we invite future teachers to Belong to our vibrant school culture, we empower them to Believe in their ability to inspire, and we celebrate as they Achieve their professional goals. We aren't just teaching students; we are growing the leaders of tomorrow’s classrooms.
This year, Mrs. Herron’s class has been delighted to welcome Miss Fulton as she completes her PGCE. She has been providing our pupils with a diverse array of high-quality lessons across the curriculum. Most recently, she ignited a wave of creativity and excitement as she launched our new Talk for Writing unit: Hansel and Gretel.
The adventure began with a mysterious letter and a trail of clues leading the children out of the classroom to a hidden "Sweetie Cottage." Inside, they discovered a second letter and the story itself. After a captivating reading, the children returned to class to build a collaborative story map. By retelling the tale as a group and in pairs, pupils significantly enhanced their oracy and confidence.
To round off this immersive experience, the children took their learning outdoors. Working collaboratively, they designed and built dens that Hansel and Gretel could have used for shelter. The teamwork and negotiation on display were truly impressive! These "hooks" have not only captivated the children's imaginations but have provided a solid foundation for the written work to come.
Well done to Miss Fulton and Year 3H for such an inspiring start to the term!
