P2CB – Caring for Animals and Our Environment

1st May 2026
This term in P2CB, we have been learning all about how to take care of animals and the important role we play in looking after the world around us. As part of our topic, we explored the outdoors and made strong links to our Forest School learning, focusing on how we can support animals in their natural habitats.
The children had great fun creating their own bug hotels using recycled water bottles. They carefully filled them with natural materials such as sticks, leaves and pinecones, learning about the types of environments that insects are drawn to and why these habitats are important.
We also made bird feeders using lard and bird seed, discussing why it is important to feed birds, particularly when food sources can be limited. The children showed great enthusiasm and care throughout, taking pride in creating something that would help local wildlife.
It was a lovely way to combine learning with the outdoors, and we were very lucky that the sunshine was on our side, making the experience even more enjoyable for everyone.
